There are a number of interesting ways you can help us out as a volunteer, and help make the library a vibrant and enjoyable experience for all who visit it – including other volunteers!

Our library is a community meeting place entirely run by volunteers… extra helping hands are always welcome. We meet community needs while having fun as we work.

Why do we volunteer at our library?

This video gives a good idea of why our volunteers feel that being part of our library is a good idea for them.

LIBRARY-SITTING — Volunteers look after the library Tuesdays 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. Wednesdays 10:00 – 4:00 pm, Fridays 10:00 am – 1:00 pm and Saturdays 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. Library-sitters help folk find what they need, run our old-fashioned borrowing system and shelve returned books.

STORYTIME – every Saturday at 11.00am and Wednesday at 3.30pm. Parents and young children are invited to join us each week to hear stories and rhymes. STORYTELLERS WELCOME.

THREE O’CLOCK BOOK CLUBevery second Saturday of the month at 2.00pm The book club is about sharing books. The library has a book selection (both fiction and non-fiction) or you can bring a book you’ve enjoyed to share. Tea and coffee are available. COORDINATOR NEEDED.

SEWCIAL WILDLIFE – held bi-weekly Tuesdays from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

Members of the community come along and cut out materials for pouches for wildlife. These members also bring along their sewing machines and sew pouches for different species of wildlife.

SORTING — Thousands and thousands of books, DVD’s, CD’s, games etc. are donated every year and need sorting and labelled as necessary before being put onto shelves. Sorting is book-lovers’ heaven. You never know what treasure is going to turn up!

Individual training is given to book sorters.
