What is a Little Library?

Little Libraries are small waterproof spaces you provide, in any shape or size, to hold books. Old Microwaves are ideal for this, however imagination has no limits for other suitable containers! Little Libraries are positioned for people can safely access them from the street. Little Libraries may not be placed on council owned footpaths, however, just inside your boundary is OK- On a garden wall for example.

Little Libraries may be spotted in a corner store, doctors’ surgery or café.    Samford and Districts has a growing number dotted around the area. These little book havens are an invitation to share the joys of reading within your community as well as being a great way to meet people.

Little Library books come and go; no-one needs to check them in or out. People simply take what interests them, and when they are done, simply return or exchange the books, or pass them on to friends. What could be simpler?

If you have any book(s) that you think others would enjoy, place the book/s in any Little Library  you may see around and about.

If you are interested in making a Little Library, contact CLS at info@binderskeepers.com.au to receive advice on construction.

CLS Little Libraries are creatively constructed from recycled materials as seen in the photos above.

The Community Library Samford can help fill your Little Library, as well as refresh and/or replace books when necessary. You can also list your Little Library with us to promote the Library Trail.
