Saturday’s (26th August) car boot sale at the Samford Valley Community Church turned out to be a fabulous success both in weather, vendors and attendees. As clouds moved across the sky, sunshine streamed from behind.

Prospective buyers also streamed in throughout the day, with many walking away with armfuls of goodies from the multiples of stall holders present.

Everything from old tools, clothing, plants, bric a brac to horse feed bins and water troughs were up for grabs.

Throughout the day, a full complement of enthusiastic library volunteers diligently restocked toys onto tables and books into boxes as stocks sold.

A very enjoyable day was had by all, especially in meeting known supporters and new supporters.
In an unusual twist, the birds in the gum tree above, continually dropped flowers on us all day.
While very pretty, the flowers were not necessarily appreciated in being also dropped all over the books and toys!
The day proved also to a fabulous opportunity to advertise the upcoming two days of books sales on the 9 th and 10 th of September at the Samford Scout Den (44 Cash Avenue North, Samford Village).

One gentleman volunteers were chatting to, advised his wife had “a small stack” of books waiting to be returned, from borrowing out of the main collection of books, from three years ago.

The time refers to when the library was at the old Rangers Clubhouse, the building where the library was last able to officiall operate from, before all 16,000 books and items were placed in storage.

The next two weeks volunteers will be busy sorting even more books for the upcoming two day book sale. Save the dates – 9 th and 10 th September!
