Here is another book review from, Angela Galvin, one of our “resident” book reviewers.

This was a book club choice -And one of a set of ten available to be borrowed from MBRC libraries for book clubs.

I wouldn’t have chosen this book but I am thoroughly glad It was chosen for us to read.

An engaging tale about a highly educated young woman in an era when such a thing wasn’t a thing.   It’s 1914 – The summer before the war and Beatrice Nash has just arrived in The coastal town of Rye East Sussex. Here she will take up the post of Latin Mistress at the local school – if she can get the stamp of approval from the school governors and the village.

This is the story of the colorful characters – and gentle village life about to be turned upside down by new arrivals, the onset of World War 1 and a changing world.

This author co-wrote – “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society” – this is another book which has become a very successful movie as you will have noticed!

A terrific read and a great book to give as gift.
